Styjl, Fellert, and the Evolution Toward Circular Acoustic Architecture
Styjl’s journey is rooted in a long tradition of seamless acoustic ceilings — and firmly focused on the future of architecture.
Styjl AB is the parent company and group holding, while Fellert Acoustical Ceilings AB, a wholly owned subsidiary, represents the technical foundation on which our seamless acoustic systems were originally developed. Fellert reflects our heritage and accumulated expertise. Styjl represents the direction forward.
By bringing Styjl to the forefront as the brand addressing the architectural market, we are making a clear statement: a deliberate evolution in ambition, sustainability, and design responsibility.
A Shift Driven by Long‑Term Architectural Thinking
Contemporary architecture is increasingly shaped by long‑term perspectives — adaptability, responsible material choices, and spaces designed to evolve over time rather than be replaced.
Styjl operates under a clear ownership directive: to transition the company toward fully sustainable, circular products and services. This directive has become a guiding principle in how we develop systems, select materials, and support architects in future‑oriented projects.
Straight Up was developed as a direct response to this ambition.
It is a seamless acoustic ceiling system engineered to support circular material flows, reuse and relocation, and long service life across multiple building cycles — while preserving the architectural freedom, surface quality, and detailing precision expected from a high‑end seamless system.
From Even Better to Straight Up — What Changed?
From a design and specification perspective, nothing was lost.
The functional and architectural overlap between Even Better and Straight Up is 100%. All mounting principles, surface expressions, and detailing possibilities remain the same. Any ceiling that could previously be designed with Even Better can be specified and realized with Straight Up — without redesign, compromise, or aesthetic deviation.
The difference lies not in appearance, but in intent and system logic.
Even Better was developed within a linear product logic. Straight Up is designed from the outset for circularity — enabling reuse, adaptation, and long‑term architectural value. This shift reflects a fundamental change in how we approach responsibility, lifecycle thinking, and the role of materials in the built environment.
Why Even Better Is No Longer Shown as an Active Product
With Straight Up fully covering — and surpassing — the capabilities of Even Better, phasing out Even Better as an active product offering was a natural and responsible step.
At the same time, selected documentation remains available to support existing buildings, reference projects, and certification continuity. This ensures transparency and long‑term support while clearly communicating that Straight Up is our present and future system platform.
What This Means for Architects and Designers
For architects and designers, this evolution means continued freedom — and added value.
You can design without constraints, using the same forms, surfaces, and detailing logic you expect, while gaining a system developed for future reuse, adaptation, and circular construction strategies. Acoustic performance, surface quality, and design intent remain unchanged — the system behind them has evolved.
