Acting on an initiative from Bruka Halland, IVL Swedish Environmental Institute has made calculations showing that reusing Styjl’s new seamless acoustic system can lead to significant climate benefits. This sk. expert advice reveals that a circular solution for this system can reduce climate impact by up to 92%.
Based on a simplified life cycle analysis (LCA), a comparison was made between a linear solution where all components are newly manufactured and a circular solution where certain components are reused. The results show that the circular solution reduces climate impact by between 84% and 92% compared to the linear solution.
IVL’s calculations take into account different transport distances for reusing the components and show that even with longer transports, significant climate benefits remain. This proves that reusing building materials is not only sustainable but also effective in reducing the construction sector’s climate footprint.
These results strongly argue for increasing the reuse of building materials and focusing on circular solutions within the construction industry to achieve significant climate gains.
